THE SPARKS BASEBALL CLUB

Since our inception, we have been committed to empowering young people by supporting athletic programs and other initiatives that strive to improve confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. In 2021, we launched the TSF Athletic Grant Program and encouraged all ages and genders from different backgrounds and cultures to apply. We proudly awarded grants to two youth athletes, Cameron Nguyen and Noah Skarda, and one youth sports program, Athletes of Influence.  Applications are now open for 2022!

We are thrilled to announce The Sparks Baseball Club, Barack Obama Charter School's first after school baseball program in South Los Angeles. The Sparks launched in the fall of 2021, with approximately 30 kids ranging from third to fifth grade. The TSF supplied uniforms and equipment, and rennovated the school's baseball field. Special thanks to Big League Impact and Players Trust for helping us make this happen!

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

We've partnered with Santa Monica High School to provide a deserving student, Sean Garcia, with a scholarship to further his athletic and educational pursuits. Sean was a 2021 graduating senior who will go on to study Kinesiology. He plans to use the scholarship for tuition and school books. Thank you to the staff at Santa Monica High School and our incredible donors for making this possible!

TIDE TEAM SPONSORSHIP

The TSF sponsored a travel team of 12-year old athletes who competed in the week-long Youth Baseball Nationals Tournament. The TIDE program challenges their players to overcome adversity and build skills both on and off the diamond; they represent the dedication that Tyler often spoke about. TSF paid the team’s $7,000 entry fee for the tournament, greatly reducing costs for the families involved.

TYLER SKAGGS BATTING CAGES

As a young teen, Tyler played baseball at North Venice Little League. So, when the league needed money to help renovate its batting cages, the TSF was more than happy to provide $5,000 toward that effort. Today, the cages are known as the Tyler Skaggs Batting Cages.

GRAB 'N GO MEAL DISTRBUTION

During the COVID-19 crisis, the Tyler Skaggs Foundation assembled and distributed meals to children and families within the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, at Gran and Go meal stations. Many of these families relied on meals served in schools. View a story about the Grab and Go program HERE.
